Throughout the year, DBIA will be marking our 25th anniversary in a variety of ways. Our ultimate goal is to celebrate the many industry professionals and Owners, public and private, across all sectors and professions, who are delivering some of the nation’s most innovative, collaborative, cost and time efficient projects.

In 1993, some of the industry’s giants gathered in Washington, D.C., to talk about the need for a new organization dedicated to educating the nation and teaching design, construction and engineering professionals about design-build. Preston Haskell, founder and chairman of The Haskell Company, described the group as having ‘an almost missionary zeal about the merits of design-build delivery.’ Twenty-five years later, that same passion and zeal still characterizes the growing design-build industry and, here at DBIA, we are proud to celebrate a quarter-century of success.
To celebrate our anniversary we’ll release long-awaited design-build market research, unveil DBIA’s new podcast and so much more.
FMI is one of the nation’s leading construction industry researchers and will release the most comprehensive design-build market analysis our industry has seen in years. This anniversary report will include utilization data, market sizing, geographic breakouts, Owner survey results and predictive growth rates through 2021.

ListenDBIA will roll out new Certification Courses and Exam in the Fall of 2018. The design-build industry is growing, innovating and evolving. We remain committed to providing the best training and certification programs in the nation to prepare our industry for the future.
To mark our milestone anniversary, DBIA will honor our industry leaders nominated to be the first DBIA Fellows. Elevation to Fellow status celebrates individual career achievements and promotes DBIA principles through the DBIA College of Fellows. DBIA Fellow status is limited to 2% of Designated Design-Build Professionals who are elected to Fellowship by a jury of their peers.
Throughout the year you’ll be hearing from various DBIA departments with Anniversary specials for our members. It’s our way of saying “Thank You” for a terrific 25 years.
The Design-Build Institute of America is excited to provide a brand-new series of design-build webinars in 2018, expanding our online offerings and making it even easier to take Design-Build Done Right® education courses.
We’ll be turning it up a notch this year at our Design-Build for Water/Wastewater and Transportation Conferences in Portland March 19–23rd, and our Annual Conference and Expo in New Orleans November 8–10. Our design-build sessions, workshops and opening parties are always the talk of the industry, but this year they’ll take on even bigger meaning as we celebrate our silver anniversary with thousands of our closest friends.
We’ll be reaching out far and wide to design-builders throughout the nation for your ideas about what should be included in a DBIA time capsule. We’ll collect the best of your memorabilia, reminiscences and forward-thinking contributions, too. The capsule will be closed after the 2018 Annual Conference and Expo.
