Owners Council Webinar Session #2 – Design Management in Design-Build

The Series is built from the Design-Build Institute of America’s Design-Build Done Right Best Practices Primer. A highly experienced practitioner will present each of the 9 topics. This will be a 40min presentation of the given subject using the D-B done right as the foundational platform. The “Design Management” presentation will be done by Mr. David Eichten DBIA, and the COO of Pankow Builders. Mr. Eichten has worked extensively in the Design-Build marketplace as well as Integrated Project Delivery. He is also a DBIA-WPR past president and brings tremendous insight for owners to the world of design-build.

Dave Eichten, DBIA, LEED, Chief Operating Officer, Pankow Builders
Dave is a 30-year veteran in the field of construction and has spearheaded the executive leadership team at Pankow. Since joining the company in 1988, Dave served as Senior Vice President/Regional Manager, Project Executive, Project Sponsor, Project Engineer and Field Engineer, and President. He is responsible for all of Pankow’s operational aspects including field operations, project management, pre-construction and business development. Dave’s contributions have significantly altered major cities in which we live, work and play. Project highlights include the iconic Gateway Center MTA Headquarters, a 28-story office building in downtown Los Angeles; the Grand Park Redevelopment Project; The Emerson, a 20-story high-rise residential tower; The Village at Santa Monica, a new 324-unit residential and retail development with a three-level, below-grade parking garage; and the County of Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley Family Support Center, a new 212,000 SF office building and a new 1,326-car Parking Structure. Throughout his career, Dave Eichten has actively supported the advancement of construction industry education. He currently serves on the Advisory Committee at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is a Board Member of DBIA-WPR. Dave holds a B.S. in Construction Management from California Polytechnic, San Luis Obispo and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
