A lively discussion is promised, bringing together the leadership of seven top North American AEC Associations
Las Vegas, Nev. – The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) – the only organization that defines, teaches and promotes best practices in design-build – has partnered with leaders of six leading industry organizations in what is sure to serve as a highpoint of the Design-Build Conference & Expo being held November 2-4 in Las Vegas. Joining DBIA leadership in a robust panel discussion on the state of the industry will be leaders from: The American Institute of Architects (AIA), The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), The Building Owners and Managers Associated International (BOMA); The Canadian Design-Build Institute (CDBI); and The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
Discussion topics will range from how the elections will impact the private and public construction market to how we can work together to address the trillion-dollar-plus backlog of capital projects. We will learn from our Canadian counterpart (CDBI) similarities and differences, particularly related to Public-Private Partnerships. The discussion will culminate with a look at each association’s perspective on the next wave of trends and challenges that are sure to change design and construction forever.
“Working more closely and collaboratively with the broadest array of industry leaders from allied organizations has been a goal of mine this year,” said G. William Quatman, FAIA, DBIA, Esq., DBIA’s 2016 Board Chair and Industry Leaders panelist. “As DBIA’s Board Chair, I’m proud we have these leading organizations and this distinguished group of professionals together to discuss some of the most important issues we face as an industry.”
DBIA Executive Director/CEO Lisa Washington, CAE, said, “Teamwork is inherent in design-build and we carry that philosophy on into our work with our fellow AEC organizations. The more we work together, the better we and the industry are. This panel is proof of that commitment.”
